Thai Peacock sits comfortably in downtown Portland as a casual yet lively spot for folks craving authentic Thai flavors without the fuss. Located just a short walk from Powell's, it draws a mix of local workers, families, and visitors who want a no-nonsense meal with generous portions and a side of friendly neighborhood energy.

The atmosphere inside blends functional with a touch of character — think tasteful chandeliers and a balcony that offers a nice open view, particularly pleasant on busier evenings. Though the place can fill up, the flow stays efficient enough to make it a reliable option for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners.

The menu covers classic Thai staples with a few standout choices that locals often point to. The noodle dishes—like the beef pad see ew and pad Thai—show attention to texture and seasoning, aiming for that balance between hearty and fresh. Curries such as the Panang and Massaman offer milder, comforting flavors, while options like Pad Phet bring some heat for those who want it. Vegetarians and vegans will find thoughtful selections marked GF (gluten-free) and VG (vegan), making it easy to navigate despite the full spread. Drinks, including cocktails and unique choices like lychee hibiscus juice, add a refreshing element, rounding out the meal well.

Service tends to be attentive and quick, with some regulars noting servers who remember preferences and keep the experience smooth. If you enjoy straightforward Thai cuisine with a modern touch — including digital menus and neat plating — this spot fits the bill. It’s approachable enough for casual group outings yet appealing for anyone seeking familiar Thai flavors near downtown Portland.

Best times to visit are early evenings or lunchtime on weekdays, where you can avoid the heavier rush but still soak in the lively downtown vibe. Whether you want a quick bite after exploring nearby Powell's books or a casual dinner with friends, Thai Peacock offers a practical, flavorful stop in the city’s diverse food landscape.

Stopped by for an early Sunday dinner. Great food, big portions, affordable prices. Only wish was that the server had asked for spiciness level so that my chicken pad see ew could’ve been spicier. Trout and fried rice was delicious and trout was perfectly fried. Either way, highly recommend if you are in downtown Portland

Wow, this place is amazing! Even though it was super busy, we didn't have to wait long, and we got a sweet balcony view. The decorations were gorgeous, especially those chandeliers. The menu had tons of stuff to choose from. I thought the digital menu was a cool touch, kept things fresh. Getting drinks was a great call! Mine was perfect, not too strong, and hers was awesome too. The food came out fast and was cooked perfectly! The noodles were on point, and the spice level was just right! That spicy sauce was exactly what I needed to spice up half my dish! I totally recommend the sample plate, everything was delicious with its own sauce. I think the crab puffs were the best part, so crispy and crunchy outside, and the inside was creamy, the sweet n sour sauce made it even better. I would've ordered like 20 of them if I had room! The pork with the rice plate was just okay. Everything else was awesome, but the pork needed something... maybe a sauce or a better marinade. The dessert was kinda funny, I don't know what I was expecting, but the little tin it came in wasn't the best look for the last course! Maybe it could have been plated differently, or something else would have been better, but it was the only dessert option. Still a great place, and I'd totally go back to try more dishes!

My go-to spot for a quick bite! I come here with my friends and family for the beef pad see ew and refreshing lychee hibiscus juice. Love the flavor and the texture of the noodles. The service is extremely fast and the prices are affordable. And Nancy is an amazing and reliable server, she takes such good care of us every time! Loyal Thai Peacock fan forever

Amazing food. I’ll be thinking about it for a while. The pad Thai was nicely cooked. Not too juicy and noodles doesn’t stick. Well done.

After getting hungry from exploring Powell's, we decided to walk over to Peacock Thai. We were seated right away and ordered the Thai salad, Pad Phet, and Pad Khi-Mao. Everything was great, though the Pad Khi-Mao could have used a little more flavor. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it!

I went with two people who were gluten-free and all of our meals were perfect! Could not recommend this place more highly. Lunch came out surprisingly quickly.
